Chris Maple, the artist behind the iconic Pokémon logo that fans know and love to this very day, released his unused art. The images of his art are showcased on t-shirts on his website.
Maple’s journey with the highest-grossing franchise in the world began in 1998 when Nintendo gave him a call, inviting him to its US headquarters in Redmond, Washington. The CEO of Nintendo of America, Minoru Arakawa, revealed that Pokémon (Pocket Monster at the time) was coming to the US and he needed a new logo. Maple eagerly took the job, and, now, his design has become one of the most recognizable logos in the world.
Maple’s Pokémon journey
On his website, Maple fondly spoke about his partnership with Pokémon and the people he worked with. He expressed his gratitude and stated, “I am proud to have played a role in the history of such an iconic brand and to have worked alongside Gail Tilden, Don James, and Vance Barr, who were instrumental in developing the brand for Nintendo.”
