Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals have been pitted against each other ever since the latter entered the picture. At the beginning, many called it a rip-off of the former. However, as the open beta gained momentum and the launch approached, many gamers had a sudden change of heart. Now, fans believe that Marvel Rivals will blow Overwatch 2 out of the water.
While fan speculation of the two games’ rivalry appeared to be overly dramatic, Overwatch 2’s director, Aaron Keller, begged to differ. According to Keller, what fans viewed as a cutthroat relationship was nothing more than friendly competition.

Overwatch and Marvel Rivals are on good terms
In a Twitch interview with streamer, Jay3 Keller stated, “I think that competition is healthy.” He explained, “I don’t think what you’re seeing in Overwatch 2 right now is a response to Marvel Rivals. So much of what we were doing this year – from perks to stadium to map voting, we did full hero bans – so much of what we’re doing here and all the heroes we’re releasing has been in the works for over a year as part of a new strategy for the game to have a big annual kick off to the year.”
