Since launching in 2023, Marvel’s reimagined Ultimate Universe has quickly become one of the publisher’s biggest success stories, offering fresh and daring takes on classic characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the X-Men. At the Marvel Comics: Ultimate Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, fans got a massive info dump about what’s next, including the end of one major era and the beginning of another.
Jonathan Hickman, the architect behind the Ultimate reboot, confirmed that his and Marco Checchetto’s critically acclaimed Ultimate Spider-Man series will conclude with issue #24. The finale promises a powerful send-off for Peter Parker’s multigenerational family saga, touching the lives of Mary Jane, Richard, May, Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and Harry Osborn. “This was everything that I pitched,” Hickman said. “It’s been really nice to execute the plan, and fans of the Ultimate Universe are going to love it.”
But the biggest announcement? ULTIMATE ENDGAME, a five-issue crossover event launching this December from writer Deniz Camp and artist Jonas Scharf. The series brings together characters from all five Ultimate titles for the first time—and marks the long-awaited return of the Maker. After two years locked away, the villain is ready to reclaim the world he once ruled, setting the stage for a universe-shaking showdown.
“This is the craziest and most impactful crossover I’ve worked on,” Camp said. “It’s big, it’s dramatic, and with the Ultimate Universe, we can actually change things in huge ways.” Camp went on to say Camp says Incursion affects 616 and 6160, “it has a bigger impact than most people know.”
Fans were also treated to first looks at Ultimate Spider-Man #24 (with the words The End on the slide) and Ultimate Endgame #1, including a dazzling foil variant cover by Derrick Chew.
With Hickman promising bold payoffs and Camp teasing seismic consequences, it’s clear: the Ultimate Universe is just getting started, even as one beloved chapter comes to a close.
