Marvel has unveiled the complete lineup of covers for Deadpool/Batman #1, including three final variant covers by superstar artists J. Scott Campbell, Pepe Larraz, and Esad Ribić. Alongside the cover reveals, fans can now preview interior pages from the landmark issue, which hits comic shops on September 17.
This much-anticipated one-shot marks the first major Marvel/DC crossover in decades, and will be followed by DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 in November. Both one-shots feature epic team-ups and backup stories pairing even more iconic heroes from each universe.
In addition to Ribić’s cover that spotlights the titular duo, Campbell and Larraz bring the heat with unexpected showdowns: Psylocke vs. Huntress and Rogue vs. Poison Ivy.
The main story is written by Zeb Wells with art by Greg Capullo. Backup tales include team-ups like Daredevil and Green Arrow by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru, Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, Rocket Raccoon and Green Lantern by Al Ewing and Dike Ruan, and an explosive match between Old Man Logan and The Dark Knight Returns-era Batman by Frank Miller.
“Deadpool shows up at the worst possible time for Gotham,” said Wells in an interview with IGN. “Batman has no patience for Wade—and Deadpool has a very Deadpool perspective on the Dark Knight.”
Capullo added, “This project is wild. I drew Deadpool back in my X-Force days and spent years on Batman. Seeing them collide is something special.”
