Skybound and Act 4 launch Kickstarter for J. Scott Campbell’s ‘Danger Girl Artist’s Edition’

First published in 1998, Danger Girl, created by Campbell and writer Andy Hartnell, became a breakout hit, helping define the late-‘90s comic book scene.

Skybound, in partnership with Act 4 Publishing, is teaming up for the very first time on Kickstarter to debut J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist’s Edition—a deluxe oversized hardcover celebrating the iconic art from the beloved 1998 series. This marks the Artist’s Edition format debut for Danger Girl, with over 150 pages of artwork reproduced at full size for the ultimate collector’s experience.

Set to launch on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 6 a.m. PT, the campaign offers fans a chance to sign up now for early updates and exclusive rewards. The book includes interior pages from the original miniseries, covers, model sheets, flip book art, rare sketches, and page breakdowns—plus never-before-seen insights and commentary.

The project is curated by Act 4 founder Scott Dunbier, who originally edited Danger Girl, and is renowned for his work on the Artist’s Edition line. “It was always a thrill to see new pages come in from J. Scott,” said Dunbier. “This edition lets readers experience the same awe I felt—up close and in full size.”

For Campbell, the project is a dream come true. “I’ve admired Scott Dunbier’s Artist’s Editions for years and never thought I’d get the chance to showcase my work in this format,” he said. “Thanks to contributions from collectors, we’ve assembled a truly special collection for fans and art lovers.”

Available only through Kickstarter, the campaign will offer a special variant cover, a limited-edition slipcase to house both the main book and a bonus volume, signed bookplates, art prints, apparel, pins, and more. Backers will also have access to stretch goals and campaign-exclusive perks through October 8, 2025, at 12 p.m. PT.
