Skybound and Image Comics, alongside Hasbro, have unveiled interior pages and a full lineup of variant covers for Transformers #24 — the climactic finale of Daniel Warren Johnson’s acclaimed run on the flagship Energon Universe title. The double Eisner Award-winning series, also featuring artist Jorge Corona, colorist Mike Spicer, and letterer Rus Wooton, hits comic shops September 10, 2025.
Billed as the end of an arc and the end of an era, Transformers #24 promises the ultimate showdown: Optimus Prime vs. Megatron. The battle that’s been building since the first issue finally arrives — and the series is set to close with what Skybound is calling “the most shocking ending to any comic this year.”
When Transformers launched nearly two years ago as part of the Energon Universe, the debut issue smashed Skybound sales records, selling out before it even reached comic shops and going through multiple reprints. Johnson’s tenure has since earned critical praise, sales success, and Eisner wins for Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist in 2024. Corona joined as an interior artist with issue #7, helping deliver one of the most celebrated modern Transformers runs.
The finale features a main cover by Johnson and Spicer, plus variants from:
-
Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer (open-to-order)
-
David Nakayama (1:10 connecting cover)
-
Jeff Spokes (1:25)
-
Pye Parr (1:50)
-
Johnson & Spicer wraparound cover
The following month marks the dawn of a new creative era, as Transformers #25 brings in Robert Kirkman and Dan Mora alongside Spicer and Wooton for an oversized anniversary issue — a perfect jumping-on point for new readers. That issue will also include a special story by Kirkman and Corona.
As a core pillar of the Energon Universe, Transformers continues to connect with Void Rivals and G.I. Joe, weaving big reveals and shared-universe storytelling into every issue.
Transformers #24 arrives September 10, 2025, in comic shops and on digital platforms.
