Exclusive: Dark Horse’s ‘Did You Hear About Mimi Green?’ turns cancel culture into surreal horror

Dark Horse reveals ‘Did You Hear About Mimi Green?’ a chilling new horror miniseries where a viral scandal leads to a wellness retreat that punishes vanity, and may not let its guests leave alive.

Dark Horse Comics is rolling out a chilling new horror miniseries with Did You Hear About Mimi Green?, a four-issue story that twists the worlds of wellness culture, cancel culture, body image, and celebrity power into something surreal and brutal.

The series marks the comics debut of writer Connor Goldsmith, with art by Josh Cornillon (Young Men in Love) and lettering by Ariana Maher (Detective Comics, X-Men Red). Issue #1 arrives in May 2026 and will feature variant covers by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell and Nick Robles.

At the center of the story is Mimi Green, a cultural tastemaker and beloved essayist whose online persona is polished to perfection—until an old blog post resurfaces, exposing cruel remarks about fat people and igniting a viral backlash. Seeking refuge from the fallout, Mimi checks herself into a secluded mental health retreat in Topanga. But while her days are filled with sound baths and crystal healing, her nights take a terrifying turn as she slips into a darker version of the facility—one where the building itself feels ancient, decadent, and hungry, and where vanity and self-obsession are punished over and over again.

As Mimi disappears deeper into this nightmare, the only person who may be able to save her is Natalie, a local bartender and Mimi’s secret lover—whose existence Mimi kept hidden from the public eye.

Goldsmith reflected on the project, saying, “Developing my first comic with Josh has been a joy, and Ariana’s lettering has pushed his gorgeous art even further. Did You Hear About Mimi Green? is a very personal story, and I’m so grateful Dark Horse understands what I’m trying to accomplish with this book. I am so proud of what we’ve made, and so excited we can finally talk about it!”

Cornillon added, “Working on this story, from its first early germination years ago, to the full-fledged surreal dream that it has become, has been an absolute pleasure, and the chance to build this world from the ground up with Connor has been one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences I’ve had in my career. I’m so excited that everyone who has had the chance to influence the book, from our brilliant editors, our stunning letterer Ariana, my color assistant Alex Buckland, and our community of supporters, has been able to understand our freaky and twisted vision for this world. I can’t wait for readers to meet Mimi, I hope she survives the experience!”
