Cosmic Lion and creator Rocko Jerome have launched a new Kickstarter campaign for GHOST Agents/Deathray1, an ambitious evolution of the long-running indie series that blends comics, art, music, and culture into one oversized package. Today, AIPT has a few exclusive images to wet your whistle.
Now celebrating five years, GHOST Agents returns in a deluxe 8.5 x 12” magazine format that pushes beyond traditional comics. The new anthology features a lineup of rising artists, original stories, interviews, and behind-the-scenes insight, all available exclusively through Kickstarter.
Originally launched as a successful crowdfunding project in 2021, GHOST Agents has built a reputation for bold visuals and genre-bending storytelling. The series centers on the covert organization G.H.O.S.T. (Global Hierarchy Of Secret Tactics), sending operatives to face everything from lycanthropic drug addicts to interdimensional demons and fashion-obsessed terrorists.
With Deathray1, Jerome is expanding that world while also leaning into his roots in magazine writing and cultural commentary.
“I was so happy to be getting paid to write that I let myself sell out to a degree that I can’t really wrap my head around now,” Jerome said. “No more of that. Now, we’re trying things my way.”
The new volume features a cover by Eric Chu, along with a Kickstarter-exclusive Spain Rodriguez Trashman tribute variant by Tony Wolf. Inside, readers will find a wide range of content, including:
- A Donna pictorial by Ben Perkins
- A kaiju invasion story by Ken Landgraf
- Kung-fu action from Raymar Brunson
- “Hell on Earth” featuring Gargon: King of the Monsters
- New art from Sean Luke, Nathan Grixti, and Nick DiFabbio
- A full 18-page Freya the Slaya feature
