DC has revealed that Static will play a major role in the next chapter of New Titans, beginning with issue #38 this August. The issue marks Virgil Hawkins’ first major storyline in the DC Universe following his return in DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special and the events of New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident.
The story kicks off as Static crosses paths with Jon Kent at Mount Titans just as an emissary from Wonder Girl’s tribe arrives with troubling news from the Amazon rainforests of Brazil. Yara Flor is called into action as the Titans prepare for a dangerous new mission tied to a growing threat in the region.
As tensions rise within the team, Static finds himself stepping into a volatile situation where the Titans are already being pushed to their limits. DC describes Virgil as a key figure in the storyline, with his arrival helping propel the team into one of its toughest challenges yet.

Ahead of the storyline, New Titans #37 will include a four-page prelude focused on Virgil in the aftermath of his recent return. The story will bridge the gap between The Kids Are All Fight and The Dakota Incident, while also setting up his reunion with Jon Kent and the larger mission ahead.

New Titans #38 is written by Tate Brombal with art by Sami Basri. The issue features a main cover by Taurin Clarke alongside variant covers by Dike Ruan and Lucas Meyer, plus a foil variant by Ruan. The issue arrives in comic shops on August 19, 2026.
