DC announces new Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and Doom Patrol ongoing series

DC’s Next Level initiative expands this September with three major team books, including bold new takes on the Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and Doom Patrol.

DC Comics has announced the next wave of its Next Level initiative, revealing three new ongoing series launching September 2, 2026: Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and The Doom Patrol.

The new titles continue DC’s effort to create accessible entry points for readers while introducing fresh creative teams and new directions for some of the publisher’s most recognizable properties. They join previously announced Next Level books, including Batwoman, Lobo, Deathstroke: The Terminator, Firestorm, Zatanna, Barbara Gordon: Breakout, and The Deadman.

According to DC architects Josh Williamson and Scott Snyder, the books take place within DC continuity while remaining approachable for new readers.

“These books are set in continuity,” Williamson said. “While the series will be independent reads and not heavily tied to other books, they will exist alongside DC’s ongoing comic book series like Superman, Batman, Justice League Unlimited, and more.”

“The DC: Next Level books are very new-reader friendly and will roll out over time,” Snyder added. “Like the Absolute line, this is an initiative that welcomes new readers looking for a jumping-on spot for DC’s main line of comic books.”

A new future for the Legion

The future of the DC Universe gets a dramatic reinvention in Legion of Super-Heroes from Joshua Williamson and Hayden Sherman.

Set one thousand years after Superman’s arrival on Earth, the series introduces a future where superheroes have been outlawed, worlds are locked in conflict, and hope appears all but lost. Following the murder of visionary leader R.J. Brande, Brainiac 1 of 5 begins assembling a new generation of young heroes from across the cosmos.

Williamson and Sherman promise a darker, more dangerous future while rebuilding the Legion from the ground up.

The Titans face a new generation’s crisis

Kyle Higgins and Daniele Di Nicuolo bring a new team together in .

The story begins when a young hero disappears after attending a rally for Ascend, a rapidly growing movement dedicated to training children to survive in a world shaped by superhuman conflict. Fairplay, Cheshire Cat, Proxy, and Wildcard launch an investigation that forces them into an uneasy alliance with Red Hood.

The series reunites Higgins and Di Nicuolo, whose previous collaborations on Power Rangers: Shattered Grid and the Massive-Verse earned praise for combining character-driven storytelling with blockbuster action.

Doom Patrol takes on its strangest mission yet

Meanwhile, The Doom Patrol receives a new ongoing series from writer Darcy Van Poelgeest and artist Niko Henrichon.

Facing financial collapse, the team adopts a heroes-for-hire approach in hopes of keeping the lights on. Their latest assignment begins with a missing cat and quickly spirals into something far stranger. As Robotman, Elasti-Girl, and Negative Man investigate, a figure from the team’s past prepares to emerge from beyond reality itself.

Van Poelgeest and Henrichon bring a blend of science fiction, surrealism, and character drama to DC’s most unconventional superhero team.

All three series launch September 2 and represent the latest expansion of DC’s Next Level initiative, with additional titles and creative teams expected to be announced in the coming months.
