Some crossover ideas seem so natural that it’s surprising they haven’t happened sooner. This fall, Dynamite Entertainment and UDON Entertainment finally unite two of horror’s most recognizable heroines in Vampirella vs. Darkstalkers, pairing Vampirella with Capcom’s fan-favorite succubus Morrigan in an all-new comic event.
The series follows Vampirella as she hunts a mysterious soul-draining succubus whose methods don’t resemble anything she’s encountered on Earth. At the same time, Morrigan, princess of the Makai, has once again slipped away from her royal obligations to feast on the dreams and souls of humans.
Their paths cross in New York City, where each recognizes something familiar in the other. Both are outsiders, both possess vampire-like abilities, and both quickly discover they’re being hunted by the infamous monster hunter Baby Bonnie Hood.
The crossover is written by Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Revival, Nightwing, Godzilla), with artwork by Drax Gal, whose blend of manga-inspired visuals and Western comics storytelling makes him a natural fit for the project.
“I love crossovers, which I’m sure doesn’t surprise anyone,” Seeley said. “And I especially love ones that can unexpectedly delight, and come out of nowhere. Vampi vs Morrigan is all of those things, with the added bonus of being sexy, and drawn by Drax Gal. It’s vampiress anti-heroines from games, comics, modern and retro, mashing it up with lots of teeth and skin.”
The series will also feature an impressive lineup of covers by Lucio Parrillo, Francesco Mattina, Björn Barends, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Drax Gal. Collectors can also hunt for rare variants through a mystery blind bag edition.
Darkstalkers has remained a beloved Capcom franchise for more than three decades, combining classic movie monsters with stylish fighting game action. Alongside Morrigan and B.B. Hood, fans can spot favorites like Felicia, Lilith, Jon Talbain, and Victor von Gerdenheim on the announced covers, with more appearances likely still under wraps.
Meanwhile, Vampirella continues one of comics’ longest-running horror legacies. Since her debut in 1969, the Daughter of Drakulon has starred in stories from many of the industry’s most celebrated creators while remaining one of horror comics’ defining icons.
With supernatural action, horror, and two fan-favorite franchises sharing the spotlight, Vampirella vs. Darkstalkers looks poised to deliver a crossover that has been years in the making.
