Overwatch League: Asher, silkthread, and iRemiix released from Los Angeles Gladiators

Roster changes continue to pour in from across the league.

The Los Angeles Gladiators of the Overwatch League have announced the released of players Choi “Asher” Jun-sung, Ted “silkthread” Wang, and Luis “iRemiix” Figueroa from their contracts. LA’s announcement comes via their official Twitter account, which reads “They have exemplified what it means to be a Gladiator and will always be remembered in our original legacy. We wish you the best of luck, friends.”

Also included in the tweet is a tribute video the Gladiator’s put together thanking the three for their contributions to the team.

“It was an amazing first season with the and I will never forget that I was able to work with such amazing teammates and staff. Despite what happens I will never give up and it doesn’t matter what it takes I will rise again.” said iRemiix on Twitter.

Silkthread on his release, “Moving forward for me personally, I am incredibly motivated and excited for the future. Now that it’s been a couple months since my offseason started and I’ve had ample time to visit family and old friends (and most importantly, relax!), it’s time for me to start seriously grinding Overwatch to be the very best player I can be.” You can read the rest of his statement on his release here.

The Gladiators were the second team to announce big roster changes yesterday, following Boston Uprising’s announcement of the release of Asher, Snow and Kalios. LA also lost their star tank player Baek “Fissure” Chan-hyung to the Seoul Dynasty two weeks ago, through a trade which reports indicate was asked for by Fissure, due to his desire to play on an all-Korean roster.

There’s a lot of rebuilding for the Gladiators in the road ahead and we should expect a lot of new faces on there roster come season two of Overwatch League.
