Overwatch League: Philadelphia Fusion announce cut of three players ahead of second season

ShaDowBurn, Joemeister and DayFly are no longer calling Philly home.

The Philadelphia Fusion took to their Twitter account to announce the release of three of their players: DPS Georgii “ShaDowBurn” Gushcha and Supports Joe “Joemeister” Gramano, and Jeong-Hwan “DayFly” Park.

While Philadelphia was incredibly successful during Overwatch League’s first season in reaching the grand finals, all three of the released players rode the bench for most of the season.

Prior to joining the Fusion both ShaDowBurn and Joemeister were members of FaZe CLan and both players competed in the Overwatch 2017 World Cup, for Russia and Canada respectively. DayFly was playing for Ardeont prior to joining the Fusion, a South Korean organization which won the Overwatch Pacific Championship Season 2 during 2017.

Joemeister has yet to comment on being cut, but he did retweet the Fusion’s tweet announcing the roster changes. As of this morning DayFly has yet to make any comment on his release.

ShaDowBurn took to Twitter and has this to say, “I experienced an amazing year playing for and I wanted to thank my teammates, management and every Philly fan who was always supporting me and making me happy. Thank you so much!”

With this announcement the Philadelphia Fusion join the Boston Uprising, Los Angeles Gladiators, Seoul Dynasty and Shanghai Dragons as teams that have announced major roster shakeups within the last few days.

We’ve yet to hear any roster announcements out of the Los Angeles Valiant, London Spitfire and Florida Mayhem, but as free agency signing opens Sep. 9, we should expect them very soon.
