‘The Mandalorian’ taps Peyton Reed to direct Season 2 episode

The ‘Ant Man’ director jumps from the MCU to Star Wars

Ant Man director Peyton Reed celebrated May the Fourth by revealing on Twitter that he’ll be directing at least one episode of Star Wars: The Madalorian‘s second season. Reed’s tweet (which you can see below) also gives us a tantalizing glimpse at Din Djarin’s battle scarred helmet sitting in the director’s chair.

Reed joins Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and series creator Jon Favreau as the only confirmed directors for next season so far. As someone who just saw Ant Man for the first time last weekend–and enjoyed it far more than I’d expected to–this is yet another welcome piece of Star Wars news from today.

Maybe I’m reading too much into how that helmet looks, but it certainly appears at first glance that Din Djarin went through a bit of hell during Peyton Reed’s episode. Whatever the case, I can’t wait to see his take on the character and the Star Wars universe.

Season 2 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres in October on Disney+
