New ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ poster is cool until you read the fine print

A lot can change in two months…I guess.

It has been a year filled with changes to movie release dates. Some studios have taken shocking steps to adjust to COVID-19. As 2020 progresses, it is less about when major movies are going to be released, but how they are going to first come out.

Wonder Woman 1984 is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Even before the industry was hit with a number of delays, the movie had been postponed. This is nothing new as potential blockbusters rarely hit their initial release date. It also is an opportunity for fans to get more hyped up with trailers and posters.

A new poster for WW84 was tweeted today by director Patty Jenkins. It uses an eye catching design that explodes with color. Anyone who sees it will definitely be taken back to the neon tinged world of the 1980s.

Until you see the bottom right corner.

Very cleary, the beautiful poster states, “only in theaters”. While it would be hard to argue the movie will look absolutely stunning on the big screen, it seems a little short sighted to not offer an option for those who are not yet willing to take the risk to see WW84 in a movie theater filled with people. Imagine that.

Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to release ONLY IN THEATERS October 2nd.
