DREAD has provided horror fans with some of the scariest movies of the past few years. Their first movie of 2021 will be a Latinx haunted house story. Directed by Jorge Olguin, La Casa is about a police officer who gets trapped in a cursed house after responding to a call for help. As is the case with many horror movies, it begins with a familiar premise. However, Ogluin’s movie should have increased tension as it was also shot in real time.
“My idea of shooting in sequences and in real time was to transmit the terror of the protagonist almost in the first person, and in this way transform the viewer into a companion of this policeman who enters one of the most terrifying houses that exists in my country,” explains Olguín. “La Casa has been my most personal film that I have made. In addition to creating its script and taking the camera, I did the sound design and composed the music.”
La Casa comes to VOD January 19 & Blu-Ray February 2
