Fans of Ghost of Tsushima are beginning to organize a “Return to Tsushima” event to celebrate the anniversary of the game’s release in July. Reddit user u/RikuSage created a post to generate interest in repopulating the game’s multiplayer servers next month in a similar way the Reddit communities of From Software games organize multiplayer events around the games’ anniversaries. (Coincidentally, Return to Lothric begins next week for Dark Souls III). The Ghost post has already garnered over a thousand upvotes for its call to return to Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima added a multiplayer expansion, as well as New Game+, late last year. Legends compromises two modes. A two-player story mode allows players to progress through short story segments inspired by Japanese mythology. The four-player raid mode tasks groups of samurai, ronin, hunters, and assassins to survive wave after wave of enemies.
It stands to reason the game’s player base has dwindled in the months since the release of Legends and an event like “Return to Tsushima” could certainly revitalize interest. I know I’ve always enjoyed my returns to Yharnam and engagement with Bloodborne‘s community.
Ghost of Tsushima has meant a lot to me, personally. It transported me to a beautiful and lush world during a time when we were told to stay at home during the height of the summer. It gave me an outlet from the real world, a way to enjoy days that otherwise could have been filled with malaise and melancholy. I absolutely loved Ghost and it’s one of the few games for which I would absolutely purchase a DLC expansion if Sucker Punch chose to develop one. I encourage you and everyone else to pick it up if you haven’t already.
Ghost of Tsushima is available for the PlayStation 4. A sequel is rumored to be in Sucker Punch’s pipeline, and a film adaptation is confirmed to be in development.
