The summer of gaming is almost at an end, but the great releases haven’t stopped yet! While we wait for fall 2022‘s major releases, like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and God of War Ragnarök, let’s check out what’s releasing this week.
SD Gundam Battle Alliance (8/23)
Mobile Suits from across the Gundam franchise join forces in SD Gundam Battle Alliance. The game takes place in G: Universe, where “Gundam canon twists and turns in ways no one can predict” and it’ll be up to the player, solo or via multiplayer with allies, to correct it. The game will feature moments from over two dozen Gundam series and 12 Mobile Suits will be playable, all remade in chibi-form. Adorable and bad ass.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac (8/26)
1999’s Pac-Man World get a remake for all consoles and PC this week. It’ll closely adhere to the original, where Pac-Man’s friends were kidnapped from his birthday party by ghosts who bring them to Ghost Island. Pac-Man has to complete six worlds (a total of 30 stages) to rescue his friends. Platforming, boss fights, and a party on Ghost Island await.
Saints Row (8/23)
After an up-and-down few years for the Saints Row franchise, a reboot is on its way. The new game, simply titled Saints Row, moves away from the ridiculous nature of the most recent titles (sorry, no giant purple dildo weapon in this one) and more towards a balance of extravagance and seriousness the earlier games had. The fan reception to the game’s announcement a year ago was decidedly mixed, but all it takes it a great game to shut detractors up. We’ll find out soon if Saints Row is that great game or not.
