It hasn’t been long since Black Panther: The Album curator/producer Kendrick Lamar unveiled the movie soundtrack’s album art and full tracklist and already we’re getting one of the more prominent collaborations: Kendrick and the Weeknd’s “Pray For Me”:
“Who need a hero? (hero)/ You need a hero, look in the mirror, there go your hero/ Who on the front lines at Ground Zero? (hero)/ My heart don’t skip a beat, even when hard times bump the needle” Kendrick rhymes among Abel’s always silky smooth vocals and a pulsating, future-funk beat synthesized by drums straight out of “Starboy.”
Produced by Sounwave, CuBeatz, Cardo and Matt Schaeffer, “Pray For Me” is the first collaboration between Kendrick and The Weeknd since “Sidewalks” on the Weeknd’s 2016 album Starboy.
Black Panther: The Album drops on February 9th on digital formats, the same day the movie hits theaters.
