Avengers: Infinity War delivers highest Thursday night preview for any Marvel movie ever with $39 million

Avengers: Infinity War opened with some mighty Thursday night preview box office earnings.

Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters last night (check out our spoiler-free review) and, as expected (with both fans and movie critics alike), the film has delivered on the highest-grossing Thursday night preview for any Marvel Cinematic Universe offering ever at $39 million — ahead of such notables as Captain America: Civil War ($25M), Black Panther ($25.2M) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6M). Infinity War is also flexing its might internationally, raking in “$95 million in its first two days in international release from 43 markets led by South Korea with $11.4 million.” Studio expectations have the movie pegged for a $210 million opening weekend, which would make it the highest grossing opening weekend MCU offering and the fourth-highest of all time behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Jurassic World. Can the Avengers dethrone fellow Disney franchise, Star Wars, or is the Force too strong for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (and Thanos, the Mad Titan)?
