The $71.3 billion Disney/Fox merger is nearly a reality and with it a “homecoming” of marquee Marvel characters and franchises to Marvel Studios (much like we saw with Marvel mainstay Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and the aptly named Spider-Man: Homecoming).
We’ve already gone over the characters we most want to see given the Marvel Cinematic Universe treatment under studio president Kevin Feige’s spot-on, prosperous oversight — and a recent sit-down with Disney CEO Bob Iger (via The Hollywood Reporter) confirmed that a very big portion of our wishes will be coming true.
“I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels,” Iger said when asked about the absorption of the X-Men franchise.
Also interesting to note during the interview was a question about Deadpool becoming an Avenger. “Kevin’s got a lot of ideas,” Iger explained. “I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”
Which Fox entity are you most excited to see under the MCU banner? X-Men, Fantastic Four or Deadpool? Will Kevin Feige give these characters the proper treatment they deserve? Sound off in the comments.
