At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Studios made some big announcements regarding Phase 4. Conspicuous by its absence was any mention of a Black Panther sequel. Director Ryan Coogler’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most celebrated movies in the long running franchise. It is one of the highest grossing movies of all time and is an Academy Award winner.
A sequel was pretty much guaranteed. As great as all the SDCC reveals were, fans did notice the lack of Black Panther 2 news. At Disney’s D23 Expo, the release date for Black Panther 2 was finally announced to fans. The movie is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2022.

It is quite a ways until the next Black Panther movie and it will be interesting to see the state of the MCU and Phase 4 at that point. With this week’s news that Spider-Man may not be long for the MCU, someone has to take Iron Man’s place. Will T’Challa be that person? Will someone else have already taken on that mantle? Or will MCU fans have other questions on their minds?
Black Panther 2 is scheduled to release on May 6, 2022.
