Despite reports of a break-up between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios that would see Sony take back full control of future Spider-Man movies, Sony and The Walt Disney Studios announced this morning the next movie will be a joint effort between the two companies, just as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home were.

“Sony Pictures Entertainment and The Walt Disney Studios jointly announced today that Marvel Studios and its President Kevin Feige will produce the third film in the SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING series, starring Tom Holland,” the press release states.
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Kevin Feige said in a statement.
The statement also notes that “Spider-Man will also appear in a future Marvel Studios film,” meaning Spider-Man’s MCU adventures will thankfully continue in Phase 4.
This is great news for Spidey fans, as Homecoming and Far From Home have been some of the web-head’s best received movies in years, while Sony’s solo efforts, the Amazing Spider-Man series, were largely considered underwhelming.
The next chapter in the Homecoming series is currently set to release July 16, 2021.
