GRIS has sold over 1 million copies

Nomada Studio’s stunningly beautiful 2D platformer hits an impressive milestone.

Spanish indie game developer Nomada Studio recently hit a major milestone for their stunningly beautiful 2D platformer, GRIS, with the announcement that over one million copies have now been sold since the game’s 2018 launch.

The studio shared the good news on Twitter, thanking their families, team, publisher Devolver Digital, and of course, the players.

The game follows a young woman named Gris who wakes up in the palm of a giant statue of a woman that’s in a state of rapid decay. After a failed attempted to sing, the girl falls to a colorless earth below where she must journey through strange structures, explore new paths, solve puzzles, and unlock new abilities along the way. As she progresses through the world color begins returning to her life, but an ominous darkness stalks her from the shadows.

GRIS has received high praise for its stunningly beautiful visuals, lovely soundtrack, and death free gameplay that’s more about the unique storytelling than anything else. At the 2019 Game Awards it was nominated for Best Art Direction, Fresh Indie Game, and took home the award for Games for Impact.

You can play GRIS on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. GRIS is currently on sale for 50% off on Steam.
