Out this week is Dark Wing, the first five-issue of the ten-issue series are now collected for your sci-fi enjoyment. Written by Heavy Metal CEO Matt Medney, he recently spoke about Dark Wing–among his other projects–on the AIPT Comics podcast. Given his proclivity for realistic science in his science fiction, Dark Wing is a unique project worth checking out.

Millenia ago, a rogue black hole viciously and without prejudice engulfed a solar system and flung its planets unceremoniously into the abyss of space. A human-like species known as the Quails worked with technologies beyond the imagination as they constructed the Dark Wing. Scientist Simon Fredrick had the idea to propel the planet of Tiberius through space by effectively transforming the rogue planet into a ship. Today, The Dark Wing has a new captain.
