Cancelled Game Boy Color game Infinity finds new life on Kickstarter

Infinity blows past its Kickstarter goals to secure a release on the Game Boy Color.

Having received 15 times its Kickstarter goal, the Game Boy Color game Infinity will finally be completed and released after 20 years.

Infinity was in development by Affinix Software from 1999 to 2001 for the Game Boy Color. However, with the Game Boy Advance’s release on the horizon, the team struggled to find a publisher for their game. With no takers for their nearly finished game, the developers team ultimately shuttered production on Infinity in 2002.

However, they released a ROM of the unfinished game for free in 2016 to share Infinity with the world. Now, to celebrate the game’s 20-year anniversary, the team behind Infinity has put together a Kickstarter to get development on finishing the game up and running. Due to monumental support from fans, Infinity will at last release for the Game Boy Color.

The Kickstarter launched earlier this month with a modest goal of 16,000 CAD and currently sits at over 268,000 CAD. Dust of your Game Boy Colors for Infinity will be physically released for the GBC as well as digitally. 12 CAD will get you a ROM while pledging 90 CAD to the campaign will secure a physical cartridge.
