Asterigos is an upcoming fantasy RPG from Taiwanese developer Acme Gamestudio. Players will take control of Hilda, a young warrior who ventures to the cursed Ancient Rome-like city of Aphes in search of her missing father. She’ll discover the secrets of the cursed city “through conversations, discovered documents and cinematics, as well as [her] own diary, which she’ll update with sketches and observations during her journey,” according the PlayStation Blog post announcing the game.
Hilda will have an array of weapons to choose from as she faces dangerous enemies while exploring Aphes, from the fantastical magic bracelets and staff to the more tangible dual blades, spear, sword and shield, and hammer. You can catch some glimpses of these weapons in action in the trailer below.
The game promises “60 different monsters to fight, and over 20 unique boss encounters to challenge” over the course of Hilda’s journey. The official trailer ends with giant statues coming to life, which look to be fun and imposing enemies.
Asterigos is expected to launch on the PlayStation 4 by spring 2022 and an “enhanced” version will come to the PS5 next fall. In the meantime you can read up on Sony’s huge announcements from its showcase last week, including news on the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Insomniac’s Wolverine, and the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake.
