Courtesy of Mad Cave, AIPT can exclusively reveal preview pages from Zac Thompson and Bayleigh Underwood’s Nature’s Labyrinth. The six-issue series launches on November 2nd with colors by Warnia Sahadewa and letters by Rus Wooton.
An action horror series at heart, Thompson told AIPT the series was written with Bayleigh in mind on art. “It was written to give Bayleigh as much room on the page to go as wild as humanly possible. Bayleigh’s an immense talent with impeccable storytelling, brilliant character acting, and visceral action scenes. In other words, the perfect person to collaborate on a story in the Battle Royale horror subgenre. We worked together to craft a unique cast of characters who are all thrown into this game for different reasons and fight in different ways.”
The series aims to lean into that action element, as Thompson added, “Once things really get going, we wanted to make sure every issue felt more kinetic and unpredictably insane than the last. So once the blood starts flowing – it doesn’t stop until everyone is dead.”

In the middle of the ocean lies a remote island complex lined with traps and an ever-changing landscape. Created by a mysterious man known only as “Ahab”, the island was designed to test the wills of the world’s most notorious criminals.
In a battle royale style game, eight violent felons will fight for survival and to the death over the course of three days of relentless action. The winner receives a wealth or riches and complete anonymity, but at the cost of keeping their silence about the island’s existence. What Ahab doesn’t know is that someone is on to him. Someone has infiltrated his island with the intention of revealing the truth about this twisted game.
