While today’s State of Play was focused on Japanese developers, the stream ended with a fantastic surprise: God of War Ragnarök. A story trailer capped the show, detailing tension between Kratos and an older Atreus, colorful locations they’ll travel to, and some of the supporting cast, including Tyr.
The trailer seems to hint the game’s story will revolve around a secret Atreus is keeping from his father and how this affects their bond. It ends with a brief glimpse of a clash between Kratos and Thor. When their weapons clash in mid-air before being returned to their respective gods — yeah, I’m not ashamed to admit I squealed a bit. This game rocks.
Sony also revealed a limited edition God of War Ragnarök themed DualSense controller. The white and blue controller features a wolf and bear, representing Atreus and Kratos, on the touchpad. It’ll release alongside the game on November 9 and preorders start September 27.
Just a couple more months until we get our hands on God of War Ragnarök, lads. Check out the new trailer below to help ease the pain of waiting.
