The biggest new video games releasing the week of 10/24/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Autumn is in full swing, and with it comes spooky season. Game releases have been ramping up with publishers looking to get their games out before holiday shopping really begins. This week is full of excellent releases, so let’s take a look at what games are hitting stores.

Bayonetta 3 (10/27)

Bayonetta 3 has been getting a ton of press pre-release, but not for the best of reasons. First there was the voice acting controversy caused by original Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor claiming she declined a paltry sum to return for the third installment before calling for a boycott of the game. Then Bayonetta 3 spoilers leaked online after copies of the game arrived early for some. As for the game itself, Bayonetta 3 won’t miss a beat after the franchise’s eight-year layoff. It’ll return the hack and slash action gameplay and devilish demons fans have been waiting for.

Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose (10/28)

The Winters’ Expansion for Resident Evil Village drops on Friday — just in time for the Halloween weekend! The story DLC Shadows of Rose will pick up 16 years after the ending of the base game with Rosemary Winters venturing back to the titular village to rid herself of her powers. The expansion also includes a third-person mode and playable versions of Chris Redfield, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, and Karl Heisenberg in The Mercenaries mode. Resident Evil Re:Verse — an online multiplayer deathmatch game mode — also drops the same day.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (10/28)

Infinity Ward’s reboot of Call of Duty‘s (arguably) best series continues in Modern Warfare II, the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. It’ll reunite players with fan-favorite characters Captain Price, Ghost, and Soap MacTavish as Task Force 141 takes on special forces missions around the globe. The multiplayer — the real draw, let’s be honest — will introduce two new game modes (Knockout and Prisoner Rescue) and will include a third-person mode. The original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 holds a special place in plenty of gamers’ hearts, giving the reboot a lot to live up to.
