The biggest new video games releasing the week of 3/20/23

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

2023 has gotten off to an excellent start for video games, with hits like the Dead Space remake and Wild Hearts releasing alongside indie gems like Season: A Letter to the Future. This week looks to continue that trend with some wonderful video games releasing.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Rakuen: Deluxe Edition (3/24)

I hope you have tissues ready, because you’ll need them you pick up Rakuen. Originally released back in 2017, Rakuen is an adventure game that follows a young boy living in a hospital and his journey to a fantasy world. It features exceptional writing and character work, which is what make it so popular when it originally released. This week the Deluxe Edition drops on Switch and PC. It’ll include Mr. Saitou, a new separate game set in the world of Rakuen, and a collection of 3D animation.

Have a Nice Death (3/22)

Have a Nice Death has been in Early Access for about a year now and finally gets fully released this week for Switch and PC. You’ll play as Death, leader of Death Inc., who is “teetering on the edge of burnout” (aren’t we all). His subordinates have been, essentially, killing too many folks on earth, and Death has to show them who’s boss. Have a Nice Death is a rgouelike featuring over 30 different weapons and spells to use in combat as well as risk/reward curses to modify gameplay.

Resident Evil 4 (3/24)

Capcom drops its latest Resident Evil remake this week with Resident Evil 4. Developed in Capcom’s RE Engine, like the previous remakes, Resident Evil 4 looks to enhance upon the original. It’ll feature 2023-level graphics, six different control schemes, and a more frightening atmosphere than the original. Ashely gets a bit of an overhaul in the remake, becoming more active in combat and traversal as well as more of a fully formed character. Reviews dropped last week and the RE4 remake is already scoring 10s from outlets like IGN and Gamespot, making it a game you won’t want to miss.

Also worth playing this week: Tchia, Mighty DOOM, Storyteller, and Remnant: From the Ashes on Switch.
