The biggest new video games releasing the week of 4/10/23

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Spring is the air, and the outside world beckons with warm weather and sunshine. But that’s not going to stop gamers from staying in and checking out some new games! 2023 has gotten off to an excellent start for video games, with hits like the Dead Space remake releasing alongside indie gems like Season: A Letter to the Future. This week looks to continue that trend with some wonderful new video game releases.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (4/11)

With 2023 becoming the Year of Remakes, Frogwares has decided to get in on the fun with Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. The studio is mostly known for their Sherlock Holmes games and originally released The Awakened back in 2007. It puts players in the role of Baker Street’s famous sleuth as he investigates mysterious disappearances with a connection to H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. It’ll feature modern graphics and animations, additional side quests, a lengthened main story, and new gameplay mechanics like insanity gameplay where Holmes must fight to not go insane.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (4/14)

Even more Mega Man games from when you were a kid are getting packaged together and rereleased for current hardware this week. The *takes a deep breath* Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection features all six Mega Man Battle Network games released from 2001 to 2005 for the Game Boy Advance. Because there were multiple versions for some of the games, the Legacy Collection includes 10 games in total. They’re tactical RPGs that feature you going up against AI enemies or your friends in battles on a grid-based arena. You’ll also be able to trade equipment and compare libraries to other players.

TRON: Identity (4/11)

TRON: Identity is a mystery visual novel adventure set in the world of the famed franchise TRON. You play as a detective program investigating a robbery. You’re tasked with figuring out what was stolen and who was behind it. The game features branching pathways, meaning decisions you make will influence the outcome of the game, a la Telltale or Quantic Dream games. Identity is developed by Blithell Games, the makers behind Thomas Was Alone and John Wick: Hex.
