‘Gen V’ — Release Date, Trailer, Cast, and More!

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming series Gen V.

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the work being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Imagine living out the Hunger Games, but instead of young contestants struggling to save their District, the competition is against hormonal and morally skewed young superheroes in training in The Boys‘ dark and R-rated universe. This is what The Boys’ highly awaited second spinoffGen V will be about. Gen V follows the next generation of superheroes at Godolkin University School of Crime fighting and promises all the gore, blood, and thrill fans have come to love from the Award-winning show, The Boys on Prime Video.

The Boys is based on the comics by Darick Robertson and Garth Ennis. It is a dark satire of superheroes meant to protect the world against villains, but they aren’t the do-gooders they pretend to be. Gen V is based on The Boys, Volume 4: We Gotta Go Now, which follows young heroes known as G-Men living in the G-mansion. This story is lightly based on the X-men who live in the X-mansion under the care of Charles Xavier. They might be young, but the sups in Gen V aren’t playing any games. If you’re excited about this dangerous adventure, read on to learn everything you need to know about Gen V!

When Will Gen V be Released?

According to several cast members on Twitter, the filming of Gen V wrapped in September 2022. The Boys fans won’t have to wait too long to return to the world of Sups managed by Vought International. On July 13, Gen V’s official Twitter account announced that the Prime Video series will be released on September 29, 2023. The series will premiere with three episodes and then air weekly episodes. Gen V will have a total of eight episodes.

What is Gen V About?

In The Boys’ Universe, babies with compound V are everywhere, and just like normal kids, they have to go to college to learn. Gen V is set to follow young sups as they navigate college life at America’s only college for superheroes trying to hone their superpowered abilities. But this isn’t your regular college experience. While being trained to hone their powers, these hormonal sups are also being influenced by Vought, who have repeatedly shown that what they consider good counts as manipulation of the public to fit their twisted narrative.

The show’s main star will be the blood bender, Marie Moreau. The violent and bloody scenes in the teaser trailer confirm that Gen V will have a similarly dark comedic, and wild-toned style as The Boys, just set in a different location. This environment will test their physical and moral boundaries as they struggle to remain at the top of their game. The prize? Getting the best contracts in the best cities and a chance to join The Seven.

This series is connected to The Boys in many ways. In The Boys season three, Hughie (Jack Quaid) discovers that congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), the woman blowing everyone’s head off, came from the Red River Institute. Children aged 3 to 17 are placed in the Red River Institute if they exhibit superpowers and pose a danger to their parents or caregivers. A photo of Gen V’s Marie Moreau is in one of the documents that Hughie steals from the group home. Safe to say that the Red river institute isn’t the best place to grow up in.

These sups are also the first powered people to grow up knowing that the powers come from Compound V, which their parents got their hands on and injected when they were only infants. When their university’s dark truth and secrets are revealed, they have to come to terms with the kind of heroes they wish to be in the future.

Is there a  Gen V Trailer?

The first look trailer of Gen V was released on December 4, 2022, and promised fans everything they’ve come to love about The Boys!

From the looks of Gen V’s official teaser trailer, the students are ready to raise hell to get good grades and gain favor with their teachers. It doesn’t matter whose blood has to be spilled along the way. If they died here, they likely wouldn’t have survived as a superhero in the real world.

The Cast Of Gen V

Gen V’s cast features many familiar and talented new faces. The main cast features Jaz Sinclair in the starring role of Marie Moreau. She is famous for her role in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. According to the trailers, Moreau is a blood bender, and while she has a good chance of being one of the first black women to join The Seven, she will have to fight tooth and nail to get there.

Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, is set to play the ‘Golden Boy’; as the name suggests, he is a top contender to becoming a member of The Seven. In an interview with Variety, the young actor described the series as Euphoria meets superheroes. Fans are in for a mind-bending ride when the series is released in September.

Gen V will also star Shelley Conn, Lizzo Broadway, London Thor, Shelley Conn, Derek Luh, Maddie Phillips, Marco Pigossi, Asa Germann, and Chance Perdomo from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as Andre Anderson.

But fear not because many stars from The Boys will appear in this spinoff series. So far, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), Victoria Neuman, Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie), and Adam Bourke (P.J.Byrne) will also appear in this spinoff.
