‘Holistic Quantum Activation’ will NOT heal your chakras

But it might show you how silly the wellness and alt-med industries are.

Imagine feeling unwell, and a friend offers you a choice of these “alternative” treatments:

  • A bioresonance device that detects abnormalities in your body’s energy frequencies, potentially indicating distress or disease.
  • Dolphin and Whale Energy Medicine to activate dormant DNA, enhance your body’s capacity for Light, and facilitate spiritual Ascension.
  • NUVENSE™, a genomic scanning product that uses epigenetics to reveal past life wisdom, offering a report to promote healing, personal transformation, and life optimization.

While these options sound similar, only one is a parody of wellness products often found at health and holistic events. Can you spot the fake?

NUVENSE, the genomic scanning product, is one of the many examples found at the Holistic Quantum Activation ™ Art Expo, hosted at Vox Populi Gallery in Philadelphia on September 20, 2024 . This parody of a holistic health and wellness expo featured satirical vendors and workshop leaders, highlighting local artists while showcasing exaggerated wellness products and services. The event drew comparisons to the absurdity of actual non-evidence-based practices, while also exposing the predatory tactics often used by such sellers. Additionally, a “banned books” installation was included, offering zines and books promoting scientific skepticism and critical thinking.

Holistic Quantum Activation Art Expo

The event featured more than 12 artists and drew over 60 people. One attendee reflected:

“It was truly delightful, and if everyone left with the same perspective I did, it was the joy of experiencing the satire of the hoax-crap entities with a straight face, but leaving with a subverted appreciation of the truth and depth of what those places exploit.”

The inspiration for the Holistic Quantum Activation ™ Art Expo came from real experiences at wellness expos, where the health and wellness industry offer everything from local honey and gardening services, to crystal energy healers and spiritual growth platforms. Products at these gatherings often promise to enhance health and spiritual well-being, but lack scientific evidence.

Some examples from actual expos include:

  • A medical medium claiming to “clear imbalances” through light-body work, to address chronic health issues, anxiety, relationships, and finances.
  • A psycho-energetic therapist promoting essential oils through a multi-level marketing scheme, with brochures touting oils for depression and cancer research.
  • A digital body analyzer app that claims to analyze the frequency of your voice to provide personalized health reports, and even “charge” pills or tinctures to treat conditions like Lyme disease or cancer.

In response to these practices, the artists at Holistic Quantum Activation ™ Art Expo created satirical products that exposed the predatory and absurd elements of such claims:

Urotheraputix™ provides Premium Pee-Pee Water that is 100% organic urine, imprinted with a proprietary blend of naturally occurring geometric shapes stabilized with electro-conductive biodynamic algorithms. The urine is available in five different signature flavors, that will be sure make you exclaim, “I can’t believe I’m drinking p*ss!”

Entroponics™, a new therapeutic intervention, facilitated localized relative slowdowns of time. Once thought impossible without approaching the speed of light, a recent scientific discovery has upended our understanding of time — that of the sixth boson, the Entropon.

Apothecary Now utilizes third eyes and futuristic technology to see auras, blocked chakras, and spirit possessions, and formulate and dispense materia medica for all ailments. A one-stop shop for those on spiritual journeys who’ve forgotten they even have a physical body.

Otherworldly™ can help you transcend space and time through a unique and luxurious product line. Whether it’s removing deeply embedded insecurities or modifying the human genome, they have a solution. The amount of nose garbage removed by the strips can help you decide how much to fret over or ignore an issue you are experiencing

By donning 3D glasses and using fluorescent action figures with a black light, clients of The Reprogramorator can reenact a time that they didn’t say what they wanted to say or do what they wanted to do, reprograming the brain to stop thinking about it.

The Holistic Quantum Activation ™ Art Expo was created with the understanding that many people turn to alternative health methods due to negative experiences with conventional medicine, which often stem from historical and ongoing issues such as racism and misogyny in medical practice, unaffordable costs, and challenges navigating the healthcare system. We also recognize that spirituality, ritual, and culture are integral to individual health; these components often intersect with alternative medicine practices.

'Holistic Quantum Activation' will NOT heal your chakras

Everyone is vulnerable to misinformation and deceptive health claims. Ultimately, the Holistic Quantum Activation ™ Art Expo combined humor, art, and critical thinking to shed light on the predatory nature of bad-faith alternative medicine vendors, while validating the real human desires for healing and well-being. The next show will take place on Friday, November 14, at The Rotunda in Philadelphia, so if you’re interested in taking part or learning more, please contact [email protected].

Every February, to help celebrate Darwin Day, the Science section of AIPT cranks up the critical thinking for SKEPTICISM MONTH! Skepticism is an approach to evaluating claims that emphasizes evidence and applies the tools of science. All month we’ll be highlighting skepticism in pop culture, and skepticism *OF* pop culture.

AIPT Science is co-presented by AIPT and the New York City Skeptics.
