Marvel is officially kicking off the countdown to its next major crossover event, and the road to ARMAGEDDON starts soon. The upcoming event, written by Chip Zdarsky, begins taking shape this month in Captain America #6, launching a brand-new arc in Zdarsky’s acclaimed run on the Sentinel of Liberty.
The buildup doesn’t stop there. Zdarsky is also laying crucial groundwork in Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, a four-issue prelude series debuting next month that will feed directly into the event. Across both titles, Zdarsky is joined by a powerhouse lineup of artists, including Valerio Schiti, Delio Diaz & Frank Alpizar, and Jan Bazaldua on Captain America, and Luca Maresca on Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon.
Marvel has now revealed a closer look at what’s ahead this April with first details on Captain America #9–10—the next chapters in the Armageddon lead-in arc—as well as Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #3.
Set in the aftermath of One World Under Doom, Armageddon finds the world teetering on the brink of chaos. As global powers clash over the future of Latveria, Captain America and a newly reformed S.H.I.E.L.D. race to prevent a series of escalating conflicts from erupting into full-scale war—one of them tied directly to the dark legacy of Doctor Doom himself.
At the same time, Wolverine uncovers a shadowy new super-soldier program, only to discover he may already be too late. A terrifying new version of Weapon X has been created, and its emergence could change the balance of power in ways no one is prepared for.
Adding another layer to the unfolding crisis, mysterious origin boxes—transported from the Ultimate Universe into Earth-616—begin appearing across the globe. Their arrival sparks the rise of new heroes and sets the stage for what Marvel is calling the next era of the Avengers.
With geopolitical tension, secret weapons programs, and cosmic mysteries all converging, the road to ARMAGEDDON is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious build-ups in years—and it all starts now with Captain America and Wolverine leading the charge.
