With Labor Day in the rearview, the summer of gaming is just about over. While we wait for fall’s most promising releases, like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and God of War Ragnarök, let’s check out what’s releasing this week.
Soulstice (9/20)
Soulstice is an action RPG from Reply Game Studios where players take control of a chimera — but not the one you’re thinking of. In the world of Soulstice, chimera are warriors born of two souls. Sisters Briar and Lute are reborn as a chimera and will lead the fight against demon-like monsters coming from another realm. The combat takes advantage of Briar’s skill with a blade and Lute’s otherworldly abilities creating a fun blend of melee and magic. PC players can take advantage of a free demo right now to test the game out before it releases.
Gundam Evolution (9/22)
2022 is a big year for Gundam fans as they get their hands on two new games in as many months. After August’s SD Gundam Battle Alliance, September sees Gundam Evolution release. Evolution is a free-to-play FPS featuring teams of six duking it out in objective-based game modes. Several different mobile suits will be available, all with unique abilities to give players an edge during the fray. Gundam Evolution launches on PC 9/22 before arriving on consoles in December.
Return to Monkey Island (9/19)
Return to Monkey Island is the first Monkey Island game since 2009 and marks the return of series co-creator Ron Gilbert. It’ll pick up directly after the events of the second Monkey Island game from 1991 while still using some elements from the games released during the intervening years. You play as Guybrush Threepwood as he sails the seas and searches for the secret of Monkey Island.
