Marvel/Disney reinstates James Gunn as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ director

A shocking twist was revealed today in the James Gunn drama at Marvel Studios.

In a big surprise, it appears Disney is pulling back on firing James Gunn from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. According to Deadline Gunn will be reinstated as director of the film. It was noted by Marvel producer Kevin Feige Gunn’s script would still be used, but it appears he’s getting the whole enchilada by getting to direct it too.

Gunn was originally fired when old tweets he made resurfaced via far right media where he made light of pedophilia and rape. It’s something he publically apologized for and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy backed his apology.

According to the new report, Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn met with Gunn to make things right and apparently it has all worked out in the end.

It comes as an even bigger surprise as Warner Brothers hired Gunn to direct Suicide Squad 2. According to the report, Gunn will still direct that film and will direct Guardians 3 after Suidice Squad 2 wraps. It makes you wonder why Disney put us all through the drama of firing Gunn only to rehire him.

Gunn took to twitter to thank Disney:

Regardless, it’s nice to know Gunn’s vision will continue throughout the whole Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and surely this will resolve any issues the cast had with Gunn being fired.
