I don’t think many folks saw today’s Disney Investor Day live-stream being so jampacked with reveals as it was. Not only did we get a massive amount of new information on Star Wars movies and television programs, but Marvel Studios, Pixar, and Disney proper unveiled many new details. One surprise came from FX, which revealed they will be hosting over 30 new shows.
After revealing It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for 4 more seasons–breaking records for the longest-running live-action show–along with Atlanta and Dave both getting new seasons in 2021, FX chief John Landgraf got into the big reveal portion of his segment.
Comics fans will be most intrigued by the long in production Y the Last Man, which will star Diane Lane.

Considering her age she may play Yorick’s mother who also happens to be president of the United States.
FX is also developing an Alien television series with Noah Hawley–most notable for his work blowing us away with the Emmy Award winning Fargo. Ridley Scott is also set to produce. The showstopper of information on this show is that it’s set on Earth not too far into the future. This will be the first Alien story set on Earth.
Also announced was Shogun, which Landgraf made abundantly clear will have the same feel as Game of Thrones but it’s based on the real-life history of ancient Japan.
Very little was said about other productions announced which included The Platform by The Office star and writer B.J. Novak, Reservation Dogs co-created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, and The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges as a former CIA operative who is forced to reconcile with his past.
