AIPT Comics Podcast Episode 110: We heart (DC, Marvel, Image) comics on Valentine’s Day

The AIPT Comics podcast breaks down major DC and Marvel release news, plus we pick Marvel and Image books out this week.

Welcome to the latest episode of the AIPT Comics podcast! This week, Dave and Nathan go over new series reveals, reiterate how comics sales continue to be great, and discuss some of the best comics and art out today. Before digging into their reviews, they break down the biggest news of the week.

To start, we discuss the news from Publisher’s Weekly that graphic novels had a huge week, with sales soaring 110%. One of the biggest shocks of the week came from DC Comics which revealed James Tynion and Jorge Jimenez will introduce new villain Miracle Molly in Batman #108. Deadpool fans take note, Marvel is throwing a birthday party for the character on February 25th.

In early solicit news, Marvel has officially announced ‘X-Corp’ by Tini Howard and Alberto Foche, Mark Bagley will create trading card covers for Heroes Reborn, teased the new Guardians of the Galaxy roster, and finally revealed the Defenders will return with the help of Doctor Strange.

DC Comics released their entire solicitations for May 2021. Some of the biggest news included DC Comics relaunching Legends of the Dark Knight on April 2nd, the first wave of Milestone comics are starting February 26th, Chip Zdarsky is taking a “Last Ride” with digital-first DC Comics series and finally, DC Comics is launching DC Festival of Heroes: The Asian Superhero Celebration.
