Ahead of her joining Marvel’s Avengers tomorrow, Crystal Dynamics shared a War Table deep dive on The Mighty Thor. The video, which you can watch below, showcases her gameplay while also sharing some glimpses at costumes and gear for the hero.
The Mighty Thor seems to play similarly to the first Thor with tweaks and additions to make the heroes feel like separate characters. Her intrinsic ability All-Mother’s Blessing builds the overcharge meter via melee attacks until the Overcharge God Tempest can be released. God Tempest increases ranged hammer damage while creating shockwaves upon hits. Her Ultimate Heroic ability sees her utilize Undrjarn to both attack enemies and reduce her damage taken while Mjolnir smites opponents on its own.
Some of The Mighty Thor’s outfits were also shared, including a 1:1 recreation of her iconic comic book costume as well as her Valkyrie armor from the most recent run of the character.
Crystal Dynamics also teased what’s next for Marvel’s Avengers after Jane Foster arrives. “Following the addition of The Mighty Thor in patch 2.5, we’ll be adding two new challenges as part of an ambition to advance our narrative through hero and villain-centric content,” community manager Meagan Marie wrote on the PlayStation Blog. While the game’s roster of heroes is starting to fill out, what it certainly needs at this point is more villains and enemies for those heroes to take on.
The Mighty Thor flies into Marvel’s Avengers as a free update on June 28th on PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, and PC.
