Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Hasbro generates some desperately needed good PR with an exciting slate of X-Men focused releases.

On Friday, Hasbro concluded the first day of PulseCon 2022 with a bunch of reveals for the Marvel Legends toyline. Let’s take a look at what was shown and hinted at during the panel.

The following figures will retail for $24.99 and are all available for preorder now from your preferred online retailers. They are expected to arrive in April 2023.

Retro Collection Sprial

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Wow.

As much as we complain these days about Hasbro not giving us value for our dollars, this figure might be the first in a long time to actually do it. In addition to all the fantastic articulation and paint, it comes with six weapon accessories.

It’s also worth noting that the figure still has torso articulation despite having six arms — an area where the six-armed Spider-Man Marvel Legends figure failed completely.

Retro Collection Dark Phoenix

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Now THAT’s how you make a Dark Phoenix figure. In addition to the incredible portrait/sculpt, you gotta love that flaming phoenix accessory.

Retro Collection Wolverine

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Even if you think you have enough Wolverines in your collection, it will be hard to pass up on this ’90s nostalgia goodness.

Retro Collection Longshot

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

First the single-pack Mojo, now this. People who paid $131.99 for the Mojoverse 4-pack just for one or two of the characters are going to be justifiably annoyed.

Retro Collection Avalanche

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Gotta love those obscure X-Men characters. That said, this one is pretty bland.

Retro Collection Multiple Man

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

I can’t be the only one who thinks this figure should be priced as an army builder, right?

The following figures are Hasbro Pulse exclusives. They are available now for preorder with an expected arrival in April.

Retro Collection Iron Man

Those accessories are fantastic, but they don’t make it worth paying $44.99 (plus taxes and shipping) for yet another Iron Man figure.

VHS Box Cyclops

This is one of the few times where the cell shading effect has actually made a figure’s paint job look better. Also, despite the lack of accessories, the optic eye blast hand is a really cool addition.

That said, I still don’t think this figure is worth $27.99.

Daredevil, Elektra, & Bullseye 3-pack

This should be a really good set. It’s anchored by your standard/wonderful base Daredevil and a gorgeously sculpted Elektra in a unique costume.

Then you get to Bullseye.

Am I missing something with the random patch of bright blue on his chest? Was this a look from the comics that I completely missed? Also, why doesn’t he have the gun that figure came with for the 2017 single release?

It makes it hard to justify spending $74.99 (plus taxes and shipping) on this set. If they ever do a single release of the Elektra, though, there’d be plenty of us who’d overpay a bit for that.

This next slate of figures isn’t available yet, but will be in the near future.

Stryfe

Even though we know this one’s going to have a ridiculous price tag, you can’t help but get excited at how fantastic this figure looks — especially if you grew up reading X-Men comics in the ’90s.

Molecule Man

I thought Harry Styles was Starfox from the Eternals.

Orb

Marvel LegendsHasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

I’ve complained as much as anyone about the Marvel Legends’ out-of-control price hikes. It’s pretty much eliminated any chance of me picking up a figure I see on the shelves as an impulse buy.

If I see this figure, however, it’s extremely doubtful I’ll be able to keep myself from buying it. I suppose I could just bite the bullet and preorder Orb when it comes out, but I’m just not there yet.

Moonstone

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

One of Marvel’s most underrated and best villains — especially when she was on the Dark Avengers. This is another figure I can’t bring myself to preorder, but will struggle not to buy if I see it on the shelves.

What If…? Gamora

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

I’m going to have to see this one in hand (i.e. not a digital render) before making any sort of judgment.

Storm

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Same deal with this one, although the digital render of this figure/character look absolutely phenomenal.

Banshee

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Love the sculpt/portrait, but I always liked the character better in his green and yellow costume.

Classic Starlord

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

Never thought I’d see this version of the character show up in the Marvel Legends line. It’s not my cup of tea, but I’m glad for folks who wanted him.

Unfortunately, the figure is an eBay Walmart exclusive. It (allegedly) goes up for preorder on October 6.

Mephisto (HasLab Stretch Goal)

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

It didn’t move the needle much on the Engine of Vengeance HasLab campaign, but we did get our first real glimpse at the Mephisto stretch goal figure. The team also hyped up the addition of the human Robbie Reyes alternate head and hoodie accessory to the base campaign offering.

Unfortunately, I doubt either of these will help the campaign out of its current rut.

The Marvel Legends team also teased the next tier of the campaign with the following image. Once again, I’m ashamed to admit that I have no idea what it means. If you do, please feel free to let us know in the comments along with some well-deserved mockery sent in my direction.

More Retro Spider-Man

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

The VHS Box retro collection will be moving away from X-Men next year to feature Spider-Man characters from the 1990s animated series (YES!). The first two figures appear to be Spider-Man and Carnage.

Selfie Series Price Drop?

Hasbro PulseCon 2022: Marvel Legends reveals

When it was revealed last week that the Selfie Series price had jumped from $60 to $80, the online backlash was pretty rough. When the product launched today, however, the price was back down to $59.99.

Was this a case of Hasbro executives actually listening to the fans, or is it just an introductory price for PulseCon? No one seems to know for sure at this point. I’ll still need to see how this turns out for folks before getting my own, but $60 puts this one back on my shopping list assuming the price holds.
