The biggest new video games releasing the week of 11/14/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Game releases have been ramping up lately with publishers looking to get their video games in stores before holiday shopping really begins. That trend continues this week as some of the remaining most anticipated games of the year drop. Let’s take a look at what’s coming out.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 (11/16)

A sequel to one of the most popular battle royales launches tomorrow. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 returns many elements from the first iteration — the last-man-standing gameplay, the gulag, loadout purchasing — while introducing a new game mode, DMZ. Players will go against both PCs and AI as they attempt to wrack up loot and leave. The release of Warzone 2.0 continues an exciting autumn for Call of Duty fans after last month’s launch of Modern Warfare II.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me (11/18)

Supermassive Games‘ The Dark Pictures Anthology comes to a close with The Devil In Me. The game follows a crew of documentary makers in a replica of H. H. Holmes’ murder castle. The “replica” aspect turns all too real once the group finds themselves in a Saw-like scenario. The Devil In Me will build off Supermassive’s past games, like The Quarry, and introduce new gameplay elements including tool-based puzzles, item inventories, and means of movement for the characters.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

The next generation of Pokémon arrives on Friday. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will return classic staples of the franchise, like taking on gyms and catching legendaries, while adding new elements. For the first time, Pokémon goes fully open world, and the mascots reflect this as they’ll transform to allow players to traverse the world on land, by sea, or in the air. There will be different storylines in the game that the player can take on in any order, just like the gyms, which are not locked into a set sequence. Co-op with up to three players will be available as you’ll take on raids against strong Pokémon alongside friends. Some of Scarlet and Violet‘s new Pokémon have leaked already if you want to check out the final evolutions of the starters before committing.
