DC Comics has announced a new middle grade graphic novel by Jeffrey Brown called Batman and Robin and Howard: Summer Breakdown. In the original Batman and Robin and Howard, rivalry turns to friendship between students Damian Wayne and Howard at Gotham Metro Academy. In this new tale, this dynamic duo faces an evil mastermind who is ready to demolish their favorite soccer field. It’s on sale September 3rd.
“Having the opportunity to make a second DC middle grade book, I first thought I’d come up with all new characters and a new story with a different superhero,” said Brown. “But as I started writing, I kept thinking about Robin and Howard (and Batman, of course), and eventually realized what I really wanted to do was continue their story. The sequel gives a different look at family life for Damian when he isn’t Robin, and more action when he is – but hopefully readers will still find all the same humor and heart that I tried to put into the first book.”
So what’s Batman and Robin and Howard: Summer Breakdown about?
Summer is in session, and that means all the neighborhood patrols, soccer games, and snacks Damian and Howard can handle. But things take an unexpected turn when a new group of heroes, known as the Hero Club, approaches the boys with an unusual offer—an invitation to help unmask the corporation planning to build a recycling factory in their favorite park. Together, they hope to recruit the help of Metropolis’s favorite reporter, Lois Lane.
