Dynamite Entertainment is bringing back its Disney Villains line with a chilling new chapter starring one of Disney’s most iconic antagonists: Maleficent. Launching this October, Disney Villains: Maleficent marks the sorceress’s return in a tale set just after her infamous curse on Princess Aurora.
This new story follows the Queen of the Forbidden Mountain as she seeks to amplify her dark powers and eliminate any threat to her dominion. When her goblin minions bring back a glowing, ancient grimoire from a raid, Maleficent sees a chance to unlock a limitless source of magic. But to harness this power, she must leave her fortress and travel into a mysterious and perilous land where danger lurks at every turn—and few survive the journey.
The series is written by Paulina Ganucheau (The Powerpuff Girls), making her Dynamite debut, and illustrated by Ignatz Award-winner Theo Stultz. Together, they bring a gothic, mystical tone to the beloved villain’s latest adventure.
“Maleficent is the ultimate Disney Villain,” Ganucheau said. “She’s unapologetically wicked, and her blend of medieval magic and mythology makes her truly timeless. It’s an honor to help expand her legend alongside the talented Theo Stultz. We’re crafting something beautifully eerie.”
The creative duo also contributes variant covers to the series, joined by artists Ellery Santos and Robert Quinn, delivering haunting visual takes on Maleficent in all her wicked glory.
This series follows Dynamite’s acclaimed debut Maleficent run by Soo Lee, which is now available in collected editions.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the Mistress of All Evil or diving into her world for the first time, Disney Villains: Maleficent #1 promises a spooky, magical adventure that digs even deeper into what makes her one of Disney’s most unforgettable villains. Don’t miss it this October!
