Dinah Lance and Oliver Queen’s wedding is finally here, and it seems like they might be the only couple on good terms right now. Things are ice cold between Harley and Ivy which is a big change from where we saw them last. Batman and Catwoman are on good terms at the start but Selina and Bruce are not.

SPOILERS AHEAD for Sirens: Love Hurts #4!
With a week left until Dinah’s wedding, we start with the Sirens and Dinah going over some last minute wedding details while discussing the case. Dinah decides that she’s going to check out the tip that Detective Montoya gave her and the Sirens help her with finalizing the details of her wedding so she can focus on the case. It’s really nice to see the Sirens happy to help Dinah with her wedding and doing so without a second thought. It’s so different from the dynamic they had at the beginning of the series where Selina was the one who was bringing them together. Dinah is genuinely enjoying the Sirens’ company, even if she’s a bit wary about them being at the wedding with a bunch of heroes.
While setting up for the wedding, Dinah tells the Sirens that Horoscope did kill again and the victim was someone who was living in a homeless encampment. Dinah covered the funeral costs but Selina offered to as soon as she heard. I really liked this moment as it shows the care that the Sirens have for the women of Gotham who aren’t being protected. Ivy suggests not hunting down Horoscope, instead waiting for her to come to them as the wedding is also the date of a total solar eclipse and the wedding is happening at the observatory.

DC
There’s a quick break from wedding planning to see Catwoman trying to get Batman’s attention by laying on top of the Bat signal. Batman is cold toward her and she soon finds out that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person and lashes out at him for tricking her. Batman thought that she knew and that pretending to be two different people was part of their game. I have mixed feelings on this scene; while I did think that Catwoman laying on the Bat signal was cute, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the rest of it. The beginning of the issue made it seem like Batman and Catwoman were on good terms, so it threw me off a bit to see him being so cold to her.
Finally the big day is here, and in the midst of wedding day chaos and trying to catch a serial killer, the Sirens get emotional as they’re helping Dinah get ready. The page with her wedding dress reveal as the Sirens are admiring her is such a beautiful moment, and Dinah wishing that her mom (the first Black Canary) was here to see her wedding be bait for a serial killer pulled on my heart strings.
The Sirens and Dinah make their way to the roof where they find Horoscope. There’s a bit of a fight until she slams Harley through the roof, crashing the wedding. Horoscope tells the heroes that the Sirens are the villains and she’s there to help them, Harley tries to stop her which causes a fight between the heroes and Sirens.
One thing I did find pretty funny about the fight is Catwoman fighting Batman, which is completely personal as he helped Catwoman in issue #2 and did try to warm Harley before she started fighting.
Dinah is trying to explain to Oliver that the Sirens aren’t the threat when Horoscope tries to stab her and she yells “They’re my friends!” As happy as I was to finally see Black Canary using her powers, this moment felt a bit cliche, but it was cute to see her finally admit that they’re friends.
Dinah ends up being the one to stop Horoscope by punching her and stating that she likes the extra weight on her left hook which is a change from when she first got the ring.
The rest of the wedding goes as planned and the two other couples reconcile. While I did like the scene with Catwoman and Batman, the scene with Ivy and Harley didn’t provide much context to what happened in between issues with them and felt a little rushed for the sake of having a happy ending.
The Sirens meet up for brunch a month later to catch up on their relationships and talk about Dinah’s honeymoon. The women at the restaurant covered the tab for the Sirens as a thank you for caring about the women of Gotham. I believe that this ending would have had a bigger impact on me if the story about the Sirens solving the murders and protecting the women of Gotham was more prominent in all of the issues.
Babs Tarr and Miquel Muerto’s artwork is stunning. As I mentioned before, the page of Dinah in her wedding dress was gorgeous and was one of my favorite pages of the issue. I loved the way Tarr and Muerto drew the Justice League and I would like to see this duo in more DC books.
Despite a couple of rushed moments, Sirens: Love Hurts #4 delivers a heartfelt ending with gorgeous artwork to match.
