After lots of speculation and various leaks of dubious authenticity, the (unnamed) Hero from Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age has been announced as the next Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighter. Announced today at E3, the Hero will release later this summer, and appears to have a couple of tricks up his sleeve already including a very cool looking JRPG attack menu with all the greats like “Sizzle”, “Psyche Up”, “Oomph” and “Snooze.”

It appears there will be representation for various other heroes from previous Dragon Quest games, including fan favorite Erdrick, in the form of alternate costumes for the character. To say nothing of an all-for-one-esque final smash where the whole cast gets together to wail on an unassuming foes.

Fans have suspected a DQ character would be coming sooner or later. Especially after Kumazaki Shinya, Director at HAL Laboratory and supervisor for Smash Bros, posted a picture of Kirby on a Dragon Quest shield — but to have it all official and settled is another thing entirely.
