The latest entry in Nintendo’s Animal Crossing franchise, formerly known simply as Animal Crossing 2019, got a trailer in Nintendo’s E3 Presentation with the title reveal: Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The trailer also confirmed a delayed release date of March 2020.
The trailer featured the player character arriving to an island setting, pitching a tent, and building a campsite by chopping lumber and building a campfire. Though you are building your own campsite, the trailer showed animal villagers and other human characters on the island. This could be a hint at multiplayer functionality to go alongside the series signature mechanics of animal villagers moving in and out of your town–or int his case–island.
