With Labor Day in the rearview, the summer of gaming is just about over. While we wait for fall’s most promising releases, like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and God of War Ragnarök, let’s check out what’s releasing this week.
Nobody Saves the World: Frozen Hearth (9/13)
Indie gem Nobody Saves the World released earlier this year to heaps of praise, and now fans get to enjoy new content for the game in the Frozen Hearth expansion. It introduces new areas, challenges, and, most importantly, two forms, meaning Nobody will have even more options for dungeon crawling and taking down enemies. The underground region The Tempering will have players compete for glory through a series of puzzles and other challenges. The DLC will retail for $4.99 on all platforms.
Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy (9/14)
Previously an Xbox console exclusive, Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy arrives on PlayStation this week. It’s an open-world RPG with permadeath, so when a hero dies, you can restart with a new adventure or choose to explore a previously uncharted world. The levels are procedurally generated with beauiful Moebius-like visuals, meaning no two levels will be the same and each world will tell its own story, though the goal is always the same: destroy the Staff of Yendor.
Outer Wilds (9/15)
Annapurna’s smash hit Outer Wilds receives a free next-gen update this week. The space exploration game originally released in 2019 to rave reviews and was nominated for or won many end-of-the-year awards. The free next-gen update will bring 4K resolution and 60fps to Outer Wilds on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rest assured, Nintendo Switch owners, developer Morbius Digital maintains that a Switch version of the game is still in development.
