The biggest new video games releasing the week of 11/28/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Discounts abound this week, from new video games to console bundles — but that doesn’t mean gaming releases are slowing down! There are still a few of 2022’s most anticipated titles left to look forward to before the holiday shopping season ends. Let’s take a look at what video games are coming out this week.

The Callisto Protocol (12/2)

Some of the developers of the original Dead Space, including co-creator Glen Schofield, are releasing a new scary-as-all-hell horror action game this week: The Callisto Protocol. Starring Josh Duhamel, Karen Fukuhara, and Sam Witwer, The Callisto Protocol features several of the same elements that made Dead Space such a hit — grotesque enemies, brutal gameplay, a horrifying atmosphere, and a unique holographic HUD. It’ll feature Duhamel’s wrongly incarcerated character, Jacob Lee, trying to fight his way out of a prison full of violent inmates infected by an unknown disease. It promises thrills, frights, and action, and looks to be scariest game on the new console generation… until Dead Space launches in January, perhaps.

The Knight Witch (11/29)

Let’s spotlight an adorable and fun indie game between the two triple A heavy hitters. The Knight Witch is a fast-paced metroidvania that combines magic attacks with shoot ’em up gunplay, letting you decide how you want to build your knight witch. There are RPG elements in The Knight Witch as the local citizenry will react to choices you make, leading to different perceptions of your knight witch depending on how you go about your heroic deeds. The Knight Witch also features several accessibility options to fine-tune the gameplay, letting you tailor it to the specific experience you want.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns (12/2)

After we thought it was on hold until 2023Marvel’s Midnight Suns thankfully releases this Friday for next-gen hardware. Midnight Suns brings together Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and wielders of the mystical arts to take on Lilith, Mother of Demons. The protagonist of the game is Lilith’s child, whom you will create as an original hero and leader of the Midnight Suns. Developed by Firaxis, the gameplay of Midnight Suns closely resembles their work on the XCOM series than what you’d typically expect from a game starring Marvel characters, and I’m looking forward to the fresh take on superhero games.
