During their Fan First Monday livestream, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends team revealed their long awaited MCU figure wave. Many of these had already been announced and/or leaked, but there still were a couple surprises.
We also got our best look yet at the Mr. Hyde Build-A-Figure from the recently announced Shang-Chi wave along with few more cool items coming later this year.
Marvel Legends MCU/Disney+ Wave
First I’ll repost the ones we’ve already seen since this is first time most of them have been shown in packaging (which I know is important to you crazy folks who don’t open your toys).
John Walker Captain America
All snark about packaging aside, I still think the best thing about this figure is that the box he comes in looks like the one we saw the character signing for a kid in Episode 2 of The Falcon and the Winter Solider.
The figure is a Walmart exclusive and will retail for $22.99. It is available now for preorder (IN THEORY) with an expected arrival in October.
This gorgeous figure was originally reported to be a Walmart exclusive, but that has thankfully turned out not to be the case.
It retails for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August, although at the time of writing this the figure is currently sold out most places.
I really like the look of that new cape, but the torso articulation is not doing it for me at all.
If you like this figure, though, it will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August. Just like with Wanda, however, he’s sold out most places at the time of this article being written.
Still not 100% sold on the facial portrait, but love all those accessories. Also, there’s more than enough articulation to have Zemo reenact his incredible dance moves.
The figure will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August.
It’s a decent likeness of Sebastian Stan, but how on earth do you release this figure without any weapons?
Ah well…if you already have some spare 6″ scale knives/guns that can go with Bucky, he will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August.
Although I absolutely can’t wait for the show, this figure isn’t jumping into my shopping cart anytime soon. Maybe I just need to see it in person, but that Tom Hiddleston face sculpt doesn’t look right. The figure also comes with a flight stand and redwing, so he’s a necessary purchase if you want to create wave’s BAF.
Loki will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August.
U.S. Agent John Walker
Unlike with the Winter Soldier/Bucky, I can live with the figure not having any weapons. I’m also fine with his costume not looking exactly how it did at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s first season finale — especially when it looks this good.
But no black and red shield means you can definitely count me out on picking up this one. If you still want the figure, though, it will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August.
Sam Wilson Captain America
As much as I love the MCU, I don’t collect many of the figures from it. In the case of Sam Wilson’s Captain America, however, I absolutely had to have him soaring over my Marvel toy shelves.
Unfortunately, my worst fears were confirmed when Hasbro decided to make his wings the Build-A-Figure for this wave of Marvel Legends. The issue is made even worse by the fact that the base Marvel Legends Sam Wilson appears to be significantly better than the Marvel Select one.
I’m fine with the Marvel Select figure’s wings not being articulated, but the actual figure’s articulation looks pretty rough. Meanwhile, Marvel Legends’ Sam Wilson has pinless elbows/knees and translucent goggles. Add in a flight stand (along with Red Wing), and the Marvel Legends version is hands down the one to buy…unless you’re like me and it would also require having to buy a full wave of other figures you’re not terribly interested in. Looks like I’ll need to decide between pulling the trigger on the Marvel Select version or scouring eBay for parts.
Captain America Sam Wilson will retail for $19.99 and is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August.
Mr. Hyde Build-A-Figure (Shang-Chi Wave)
Good lord that’s one ugly figure…and I mean that in a good way. Mr Hyde isn’t a character on my ‘must have’ list, but he does look really cool.
Now let’s take a look at a few of the other releases and news items:
Never been a huge fan of the character, but that is a pretty cool looking figure. No definitive release date yet, but expected to be released later this year.
Classic Johnny Storm/Human Torch
I prefer my Human Torch figures to be on fire and translucent, but I do love this look for the character.
The Marvel Legends team also strongly hinted that the other members of the Fantastic Four would be receiving classic look releases later this year.
New Army Builder Troop
My best guess is that this is a prototype for new S.H.I.E.L.D trooper, but I could be wrong.
Another Army Builder Tease
Ashamed to say that I have no idea what this goes with. It looks cosmic, which definitely isn’t my wheelhouse. Anyone have a guess what figure might be attached to this accessory?
Someone looks very angry that he can’t find his manscaping razor. No release date or wave inclusion info available at this time.
Captain America Role Play Shield
It might not defy the laws of physics for you, but this bad boy still looks pretty great. It also has straps so you can wear the shield on your arm when you’re not chucking it like world’s most lethal frisbee and your friends and family.
The item retails for $120.99 is available to order and receive now!
